Skyview Drags Welcomes New Teen Championship Racing Division
Skyview Drags is pleased to announce a new division to be added this year at the IHRA sanctioned eighth-mile track located in the heart of Tioga Center, N.Y.The new division, Teen Championship Racing (TCR), allows teenagers 13 to 17 years old to compete against each other in street legal cars and trucks. The TCR program is an inexpensive way for families to get involved in drag racing and offers a chance for parents to cultivate a close working relationship with their children.
According to Track Director, Amy Culver, the new division will get kids involved in drag racing. “These kids are our future racers,” said Culver. “I’m very excited to see how many kids will get involved.”
For the new division, a co-driver will accompany the TCR competitor on all runs to coach the driver and to join in the fun. TCR participants receive an IHRA Competition License, IHRA Rule Book, a one-year subscription to Drag Review magazine, and medical coverage.
All races will be conducted over a distance of 1/8th mile with an ET dial-in format. Cars are limited to 11.00 seconds and slower. TCR drivers may not compete in any other class except Jr. Dragster.
Participation, according to Culver, is available for a cost of a $25 membership. The training for the TCR division will take place on Saturday 10th , 2010, with the first run scheduled for April 17, 2010.
