Tim Zyla Wins in Pro class for the Second Week in a Row!

Haley TeedSaturday, July 21, 2012 race started off with 6 racers entered in to the Junior Dragster class, sponsored by Precision Crankworks of Kirkwood NY. The Junior A and Junior B classes were combined together to make up the first round of elimination this week. Haley Teed of Friendsville, NY and currently 3rd in the points chase, was the Junior winner after defeating Morgan Burgess of Canton PA.

Teed dialed 7.95 had the advantage off the line with a .533 reaction time and ran an 8.010 ET on her dial. Burgess dialed a 7.93 went .877 on the tree and ran a 7.960 ET. In the semi final round, Teed faced her sister and current Junior points leader, Randi Teed who dialed 7.90 to Haley’s 7.91. Randi went .491 red turning the win light on for Haley. Burgess had the bye run into the final round.

Jesse AlbertsIn Super Pro, Jesse Alberts of Fleetwood, PA drove his dragster to the winner’s circle after defeating Randy Teed of Friendsville, PA in the final round. Alberts dialed 4.97 went .516 on the tree running a 4.984 ET. Teed left the line first going .494 red and ran a 6.090 ET on a 6.09 dial. In the semi finals, Alberts defeated last week’s winner and current points leader, Don Kiekel of Binghamton, NY. Alberts dialed 4.97 went .502 on the tree and ran a 4.990 ET. Kiekel dialed a 5.05 went .509 on the tree running a 5.077 ET in a very close race. Teed moved into the final against Pete Curpier of Oneonta NY. With an almost perfect package, Teed dialed 6.08 went .504 on the tree running a 6.083 ET to Curpier’s 4.96 dial, .553 reaction and 4.975 ET.

Tim Zyla Wins Pro at Skyview Drags

In the Pro class, points leader Tim Zyla of Sayre, PA continued to increase his lead over the class with his win on Saturday against Jeff Gallick of Athens, PA. Zyla dialed 6.39 went .542 on the tree running a 6.429 ET to Gallick’s 6.36 dial, .579 reaction time, 6.402 ET on his dial. In the semi finals, Zyla defeated Mark Savory. Savory dialed 6.85 went .731 on the tree running a 6.854 ET to Zyla’s .511 reaction time, 6.561 ET on a 6.39 dial in. Gallick defeated Shane Garringer of New Albany PA, who is currently 2nd in the points chase. Gallick dialed 6.34 went .537 on the tree running a 6.378 ET. Garringer went .533 on the tree, but broke out running a 6.669 ET on a 6.68 dial.
 
In the Northeast Open Comp class, Andrew Erecitano of Binghamton, NY defeated Terry Coleman of Waverly, NY in the final round. Erecitano dialed 10.01 went .572 on the tree running a 9.956 ET. Coleman dialed 7.51 went .488 red on the tree running a 7.670 ET, turning the win light on for Erecitano. In the semi finals, Erecitano defeated Jeff Coleman of Barton, NY. Erecitano dialed 10.01 went .580 on the tree and ran a 10.024 ET to Coleman’s 7.04 dial, .564 reaction and 7.145 ET. Terry Coleman defeated Lee Mills of Newark Valley, NY. Coleman dialed 7.51 had a .522 reaction and ran 7.689 ET on his dial to Mills 7.49 dial, .887 reaction time and 7.578 ET.

In the Bike/Sled class, Boyd McGarry of Horseheads, NY defeated Rick Woodruff also of Horseheads, NY in the final round. Woodruff left the line first with a .498 red going 6.177 ET on a 6.15 dial turning the win light on for McGarry who ran a 5.893 ET on a 5.85 dial. In the semi-final round, McGarry defeated Jamie Hitchcock of Horseheads, NY. Woodruff had the bye into the final after defeating Rob Withers of Blodgett Mills, NY in the quarter final round.

In Street Money, Andrew Erecitano took home his second trophy of the day on Saturday against Scott Galbreath. Erecitano dialed 9.90 had the advantage off the line with a .520 reaction time, running a 9.927 ET. Galbreath dialed 10.91 went .554 on the tree running a 10.925 ET in a very close race. In the semi final round, Erecitano defeated Ken Bacon of Elmira, NY. Galbreath defeated Tim Wright of Apalachin, NY.

In Street Trophy, Howie Conklin of Grahamsville, NY was the day’s winner against Ken Bacon of Elmira, NY. Conklin dialed 8.32 went .621 on the tree running a 8.387 ET. Bacon dialed 8.63 went .433 red on the tree, 8.635 ET turning the win light on for Conklin.

In TCR, Teresa Kurtz of Richford, NY defeated Matt Dunkle of Millerton, Pa. Kurtz dialed 10.55 went .633 on the tree, running a 10.648 ET. Dunkle dialed 11.20 went .897 on the tree running a 11.325 ET.
