Lynn Major Wins Bike/Sled for 2nd Week in a Row!
Saturday August 11, 2012 point’s competition earned Lynn Major of Tioga Center NY his second win in a row in the Bike/Sled class against Ken Dolatowski of Camillus NY. Major dialed a 5.37 went .518 on the tree running a 5.393 ET. Dolatowski red lit off the line with a .429 running a 6.321 ET on a 6.35 dial. In the semi final round Dolatowski defeated Rob Withers of Blodgett Mills NY. Dolatowski dialed 6.34 had a .659 reaction time, running a 6.356 ET. Withers had the advantage off the line with a .519, but broke out going 8.768 ET on his 8.77 dial. Major had the bye run into the final round, after defeating Karla Edwards in the quarter final round.
In Super Pro, John Cooper of Binghamton, NY defeated last week’s winner Rick Simon Sr of Vestal NY in the final round. Cooper dialed 4.89 went .508 on the tree, running a 4.883 ET on his dial. Simon dialed 5.06 went .477 red on the tree, running a 5.062 ET, turning the win light on for Cooper. In the semi final round Cooper defeated Kathy Kiekel of Binghamton NY. Cooper dialed 4.89 to Kiekel’s 6.05, had the advantage off the line with a .519 reaction to Kiekel’s .591 reaction. Cooper went 4.906 ET on his dial to Kiekel’s 6.074 ET on her dial. Simon went onto the final after defeating George Miller. Simon dialed 5.07 had the advantage off the line with a .511 reaction time, running a 5.074 ET. Miller dialed 5.29, went .534 on the tree, but broke out running a 5.288 ET on his dial.
Tim Zyla of Sayre PA took home the trophy in Pro competition on Saturday. Zyla defeated Terry Coleman of Waverly NY. Zyla dialed 6.19 went .504 on the tree running a 6.240 ET. Coleman with a .537 reaction time, broke out running a 7.596 ET on a 7.64 dial. In the semi finals, Zyla defeated rookie Dawn Garringer of New Albany PA. Garringer, in her first career semi final, dialed 6.44 went .983 on tree, running a 6.534 ET. Zyla dialed 6.19, had the advantage at the line with a .553 tree, running 6.572 ET on his dial. Steve Doss dialed 6.54 red lit to Coleman with a .494 red, running 6.544 ET on his dial. Coleman dialed 7.64 went .737 on the tree, running a 7.599 ET.
Russell Story (pictured left) took home his first Street Money win of the season. Story defeated Howie Conklin of Grahamsville NY. In a close final, Story dialed 8.05 had the better reaction time with a .579, running a 8.065 ET. Conklin dialed 8.35 went .618 on the tree running 8.363 ET on his dial. In the semi finals, Story defeated last week’s winner Ken Roberts of Ulster PA. Conklin lined up against Scott Galbreath.
In Street Trophy, Mike Dunkle of Millerton PA scored his first win in competition on Saturday against Tim Wright of Apalachin NY. Dunkle dialed 10.11 went .646 on the tree running a 10.167ET. Wright dialed 8.09 went .481 red to Dunkle, running a 8.251 ET.
Point’s leader, Teresa Kurtz took home the win in TCR competition.
In the Junior Dragster class, sponsored by Precision Crankworks, Haley Teed of Friendsville PA defeated Hunter Denmark of Ovid NY in the final round. Teed dialed 7.93 had a .558 reaction time running a 8.001 ET. Denmark, making her first finals appearance, dialed 9.07 went .653 on the tree, running a 9.100 ET on her dial. In the semi final round, Teed defeated Morgan Burgess of Canton PA. Burgess dialed 7.92 went .442 red, running a 7.895 ET, turning the win light on for Teed dialed in at 7.94, with a .633 reaction time, running a 7.951 ET on her dial. Denmark lined up against Hannah Garringer of New Albany, PA. In a close race at the start, Garringer dialed 12.73 went .636 on the tree, Denmark dialed 9.13 gave chase going .638 on the tree. Garringer broke out running a 12.704 ET on her dial to Denmark’s 9.152 ET.
