Pro Stick Racing Series Goes All Out at The Ridge
Skyview Drags welcomed the Pro Stick Racing Series on Saturday June 15, 2013. The series that goes by the moto "Real Race Cars Have A Clutch!" brought their wheelie standing, clutch barring, fast door cars to the Ridge as part of their 2013 Championship Series. Mark Charcalla, the 2012 Pro Stick Series Champion, owned the final round against 2011 7th Place finisher, Fred Leyland. Charcalla dialed 5.75, went .563 on the tree, running 5.796 ET to Leyland's 5.966 ET break out on a 5.97 dial, .557 reaction time. Charcalla advanced to the final round with a bye run in the Semi Finals. Ted McGenn was semi finalist after a break out run against Leyland. McGenn dialed 6.56 had the better .548 reaction time, running a 6.553 ET. Leyland dialed 5.97 went .568 on the tree, 5.984 ET.
In Super Pro, Tom Samsel of Rome NY defeated Phil Scarlata of Churchville NY in the final round of eliminations. Samsel dialed 6.40, sealed the deal with a .512 reaction time, running a 6.424 ET. Scarlata, dialed 5.09, went .532 on the tree, running the number with a 5.094 ET. Semi final eliminations lined Samsel against Mark Romanofsky of Hilton NY. Samsel left the line first dialed 6.38, went .505 on the tree running a 6.423 ET. Romanofsky went .493 red, running a 5.098 ET on a 5.10 dial, automatically moving Samsel into the final round. Scarlata lined up against regular points competitor Franc Francis of Seneca Falls NY. Francis dialed 6.31, went .517 on the tree, running a 6.313 ET. Scarlata, turned the win light on with the better .503 reaction time, running a 5.106 ET on his 5.09 dial.
Shane Garinger of New Albany Pa was the Pro Class winner after defeating Brad Perkins of Leicester NY in the final round. Garinger automatically advanced to the final round after earning a bye run from his Quarter Final win against Mike LaRose of Monroe NY. In the final round, Garinger dialed 6.65, went .538 on the tree running on the number with a 6.688 ET. Perkins broke out running a 6.813 ET on his 6.82 dial, .558 on the tree. Perkins advanced to the finals against Joe Carlyle of Waverly NY in the Semi Finals. Perkins dialed 6.82 went .552 on the tree, 6.895 ET. Carlyle, dialed 6.65, went .688 on the tree, running a 6.697 ET.
For the second week in a row in the Bike/Sled eliminations, Rob Withers of Blodgett Mills NY and Brent Garcia of Cincinnatus NY lined up against each other in the final round, with Withers backing up last weeks win. Withers dialed 8.88 went .577 on the tree running the dial with a 8.883 ET. Garcia, dialed 6.84, had an identical .577 tree, running a 6.873 on his dial. Withers advanced to the final round after a bye run earned in the Quarter Final elimination. Garcia moved on to the final against Matt Guinan. Garcia dialed 6.84, went .623 on the tree, running a 6.849 ET. Guinan, broke out running a too fast 6.096 ET on a 6.17 dial, .586 on the tree.
Gary French of Waterloo NY was the Street Money Eliminator winner over Joann Lamoree of Harpursville NY. French dialed 8.24, went .635 on the tree, running a 8.269 ET. Lamoree, dialed 8.33, had the better .618 reaction time, but broke out running a 8.273 ET. In the Semi Final round, French went on to the final against Tim Carey of Binghamton NY. Carey dialed 8.88, broke out to French running a 8.844 ET on his dial, .686 reaction time. French, went 8.265 on his 8.24 dial, .609 reaction time. Lamoree advanced to the final against Shawn Wood. Wood, dialed 8.00, went .852 on the tree running a 8.125 ET. Lamoree, went .693, running 8.400 ET on her 8.22 dial.
The Junior final lined sisters, Randi Teed and Haley Teed of Friendsville Pa against one another with older sister Randi taking the win. Haley dialed 7.97, broke out running 7.957 ET, .636 reaction time. Randi went .655 on the tree running 7.989 ET on her 7.95 dial. Haley advanced to the final round with a bye run pass in the Semi’s earned from her win over Hayden Houghtalen of Waverly NY. Randi advanced into the final against last week’s Junior winner, Morgan Burgess of Canton Pa in the Semi Final round. Burgess dialed 7.97, left first with a .596 reaction time, running 8.019 ET on her dial. Randi with the better .536 reaction time turned the win light on running 8.037 ET on her 7.95 dial.
The TCR win went to Matt Dunkle of Millerton Pa after earning the win against Rookie driver, Tayler Hacker. Dunkle dialed 11.30 had the better .778 reaction time running a 11.334 ET. Hacker gave chase going .946 on the tree, but broke out running a 10.870 ET on a 10.94 dial.
After a few runner-up finishes in Street Trophy this season, Tim Wright of Apalachin NY got the Street Trophy win on Saturday against Balsey DeWitt. DeWitt dialed 8.96 went .453 red, automatically turning the win light on for Wright. Wright dialed 7.90, went .584 on the tree running a 7.859 ET. Semi finals went to Mike Dunkle of Millerton Pa and Howie Conklin of Grahamsville NY.
