Skyview Drags Holds 5th Annual Junior Dragster Shootout!

Saturday August 24th 2013, brought 18 competitive Junior Dragster racers to compete for their shot of being named Champion at the 5th Annual Junior Dragster Shootout.  Drivers entered into 2 separate races with the winner of each facing off in the Shootout Elimination.  In the first race, last year’s Shootout Champion Dunham Hall of Syracuse NY took the win over Morgan Burgess of Canton Pa.  Hall dialed 7.90 went .541 on the tree running the number with a 7.906 ET.  Burgess left too soon with a .496 red going 7.930 ET on her 7.92 dial.  In the Semi Final round, Hall defeated Randi Teed of Friendsville Pa.  Hall dialed 7.90 had the better .543 reaction time running 7.966 ET.  Teed dialed 7.93 went .612 on the tree running 7.961 ET.  Burgess went on to the final after defeating Abby Hacker of Bainbridge NY.  Hacker dialed 7.99, broke out running 7.988 ET on her dial, .602 reaction time.  Burgess dialed 7.90 went .552 on the tree running 7.941 ET.

 

In race 2 of the Shootout, Jack Caruso of Canandaigua NY went on to face Dunham Hall in the Shootout Final after defeating Hannah Garinger of New Albany Pa.  Garinger left the line first dialed 13.35, but broke out running 13.243 ET on her dial, .579 on the tree.  Caruso, gave chase with the better .543 reaction time running 9.060 ET on his 9.02 dial.  In the Semi Finals Caruso took on Race 1 semi finalists Abby Hacker.  Caruso dialed 9.02 went .579 on the tree running 9.112 ET.  Hacker dialed 8.00 gave chase going 6.93 on the tree running 8.077 ET.  Garinger moved into the final round with a bye run earned in the Quarter Finals.

All that was left now was to name the Shootout Champion.  Lined up in the final round was Dunham Hall versus Jack Caruso.  Hall dialed 7.90 went .691 on the tree, but broke out to Caruso running a 7.876 ET.  Caruso bested Hall with a .512 reaction time running 9.043 ET on his 9.00 dial. 

The Junior Dragster excitement did not end there, with former Junior racer and Rookie Super Pro Competitor, Cody Reome of Blodgett Mills NY, taking home the win in his first ever Super Pro competition.  Reome lined up against veteran racer Russ Denmark of Ovid NY in the final round.  Reome dialed 5.59 went .543 on the tree running 5.613 ET.  Denmark dialed 4.59 gave chase to Reome going .516 on the tree running 4.658 ET.  In the Semi Final round, Cody defeated his dad and mentor Jack Reome of Blodgett Mills.  Cody dialed 5.59. slammed a .500 tree down, going 5.648 ET.  Jack gave chase going .569 on the tree, but broke out running 4.733 ET on his 4.75 dial.

In Pro Competition, repeat class Champion Shane Garinger of New Albany Pa took home the win over Mike Scribani of Oneonta NY.  Garinger dialed 6.35 went .560 running 6.372 ET.  Scribani broke out running 6.446 ET on his 6.45 dial, .521 reaction time.  In the Semi Finals, it was a battle between the 1st place point’s competitor Jeff Gallick of Athens Pa and 2nd place point’s competitor Garinger, with Garinger moving onto the final.  Garinger dialed 6.37 left first with a .578 reaction time, running 6.361 ET.  Gallick went .487 red on the tree running 6.311 ET on his 6.33, automatically turning the win light on for Garinger.  Scribani went on to the final round with a bye run in the Semis.

The Bike/Sled class win went to Khyle Jennison after defeating Lynn Major of Tioga Center NY in the final round.  Jennison dialed 6.23 had the better .559 reaction time running the number with a 6.231 ET.  Major went .579 on the tree, running 5.032 ET on his 5.02 dial.  In the Semi’s, Jennison bested Ken Dolatowski of Camillus NY.  Dolatowski dialed 6.38, left first with a .672 reaction time, running 6.394 ET.  Jennison went .562 on the tree running a 6.310 ET on his 6.21 dial.  Major had the bye run in to the final round. 

Ken Bacon of Elmira NY took home the win in Street Money over Howie Conklin of Grahamsville NY.  Bacon dialed 8.58 left first with a .571 reaction time, running on the dial with a 8.588 ET.  Conklin, dialed 8.29 went .582 on the tree running 8.402 ET.  Semi Finals lined Bacon against Mike Ryck of Waverly NY in a double break out round.  Bacon dialed 8.58 went .610 on the tree running 8.578 ET.  Ryck dialed 7.80 went .580 on the tree running 7.748 ET.  Conklin had the bye run to the Final round.

In Street Trophy, John Hummel defeated Tim Wright of Apalachin NY in the final round.  Hummel, dialed 9.80 went .540 on the tree running 9.838 ET.  Wright dialed 7.82 went .565 on the tree running 7.896 ET.  Semi Final round lined Wright against Matt Dunkle of Millerton Pa.  Dunkle dialed 10.93 went .670 on the tree running 10.996 ET.  Wright gave chase with the better .527 reaction time, running 7.923 ET on his 7.82 dial.  Hummel moved on to the final with a bye run.
