Skyview Wraps Up The 2013 Points Season!

October 6th, 2013 The end of the season points races got off but not without delay from Mother Nature. On schedule were 3 races total, The Halloween Classic Race 1 & Race 2, along with a makeup race from June 1st. But rain postponed Friday and Saturday’s schedule, forcing only 2
races on Sunday to be held.The morning started with the June 1st make up race. Round 1 of all classes were completed, but the race was cancelled during buy backs. This allowed racers to enter that lost 1st round, or new entries, to get back into 2nd round after making it through buy backs. Super Pro: Carl Drake Sr of Binghamton NY earned an overdue Skyview Super Pro win in the make up race after defeating Steve Morton of Cortland NY in an all door car final. Drake dialed 6.75, went .535 on the tree running 6.779 ET on his dial. Morton, dialed 6.06, went .495 red on the tree, turning the win light on for Drake (Morton: 6.094 ET). Semi final honors of the make up race went to Gene Stankivitz.
Pro: Mike Scribani of Oneonta NY, on a mission for the 2013 Pro Championship, took home the win in the makeup race with a win against Joe Rodriguez in the final round. Rodriguez, left first going .497 red on the tree (running 7.888 ET on a 6.67 dial), settling for the runnerup spot. Scribani dialed 6.59, went .564 on the tree, running 6.579. Larry Carasea of Vestal NY and Paul Scribani of Delhi NY were the Pro Semi Finalists.

Bike/Sled: Repeat winner, Lynn Major of Tioga Center NY came out on top against Boyd McGarry of Horseheads NY in a true Bike/Sled final. Major dialed 5.06, had the better .551 reaction time, running 5.104 at 123.38 MPH. McGarry, dialed 5.84, went .571 on the tree running 5.892 at 118.97 MPH. Semi Finals went to Ken Dolatowski of Camillus NY.

Street Money: Kenneth Bacon of Elmira NY added to his 2013 wins after defeating Gary French of Waterloo NY in the final round. Bacon with the advantage from the beginning of the race, went .511 on the tree running dead on with a 8.563 ET on a 8.56 dial. French finished in the runnerup spot after going .573 on the tree and running 8.366 on his 8.35 dial. John Hummel of Livonia NY was the Semi Finalist.

 

Street Trophy: Kenneth Bacon of Elmira NY earned his way to the final round of Street Trophy, but this time took runnerup to John Hummel of Livonia NY. Bacon broke out running 8.639 on his 8.65, .595 reaction time. Hummel went .578 on the tree, running 10.052 on his 7.99 dial. Tim Wright of Apalachin NY and Mike Dunkle of Millerton Pa were the Street Trophy Semi Finalists.

Following the makeup race, the Halloween Classic got under way. CJ Drake of Binghamton NY took his Diamond dragster to the final of Super Pro and scored his first ever Points Championship at Skyview Drags. Drake lined up against the 2012 Super Pro Champion Don Keikel of Binghamton NY in a drag to the finish. Kiekel broke out to Drake running a slight too quick 5.164 on his 5.17 dial at 132.75 MPH, .538 reaction. Drake gave chase going .522 on the tree running 5.026 on his 5.01 dial at 140.07 MPH, earning the Super Pro win.

Joey LaRose of Baldwinsville NY and Steve Doss ended with a Semi Final finish. Pro: John Tracy of Athens Pa earned a Pro win this season in his 55 Ford after defeating tough competitor Matt Himes of Ontario NY in a double red light elimination. Himes dialed the slower 6.77 left first, going .482 red on the tree (6.768 ET), turning the win light on for Tracy. Tracy dialed 5.89, went .495 red, 5.890, dead on the dial. Paul Scribani of Delhi NY was the Pro Semi Finalist.

Bike/Sled: Matt Luke brought his bike down to the Ridge from Cicero NY to take home the win against Zack Simmons of Blodgett Mills. Simmons, currently active military and home on leave, lined up against Luke, in the final elimination. Simmons, dialed 8.20, went .554 on the tree, running a 8.270 on his dial. Luke took the stripe running a 5.834 on his 5.80 dial, .590 reaction time. Rob Withers of Blodgett Mills NY was the Bike/Sled Semi Finalists.

Street Trophy: Tim Wright of Apalachin NY brought home the 2013 Street Trophy Championship with a win in Sunday’s competition. Wright defeated, Matt Dunkle of Gillett Pa, who finished up the day with a runnerup finish. Both drivers left with close reaction times, Dunkle’s slight .555 to Wright’s .559. But Wright who ran a 8.041 on a 7.98, took the win after a break out by Dunkle,10.996 on an 11.04. Howie Conklin was the Semi Finalists.

Street Money: Tim Wright of Apalachin NY cleaned house in Street competition earning a second win in the Street Money Class. Wright, dialed 8.03, .517 reaction time, turned the win light on after a .436 red light start by French, who ran 8.347 on his 8.29 dial. John Hummel of Livonia NY was the days Semi Finalists.
