Skyview Drags Welcomes New Teen Championship Racing Division

TCRSkyview Drags is pleased to announce a new division to be added this year at the IHRA sanctioned eighth-mile track located in the heart of Tioga Center, N.Y.

The new division, Teen Championship Racing (TCR), allows teenagers 13 to 17 years old to compete against each other in street legal cars and trucks. The TCR program is an inexpensive way for families to get involved in drag racing and offers a chance for parents to cultivate a close working relationship with their children.

According to Track Director, Amy Culver, the new division will get kids involved in drag racing. “These kids are our future racers,” said Culver. “I’m very excited to see how many kids will get involved.”

NICHOLS, N.Y. -- The sounds of thunder rolled on Saturday at Tioga Downs Casino in Nichols, N.Y. as over 200 guests viewed a recap of the 2009 season at Skyview Drags in Tioga Center, N.Y. during an annual dinner that recognized drivers and supporters of the 1/8 mile track.

The event, which recognized dozens of drivers for Rookie of the Year, Sportsman of the Year and even a Hard Luck Award, was announced by The Daily Review's own Greg Zyla, publisher; and Bob Russell, track announcer for the 1/8 mile track at Skyview Drags.

Track Manager Amy Culver organized the event to bring what she considers a "track family" together in celebration of their best year ever. According to Culver, the track - when it opened mid-season in 2004 - had ten cars that arrived to run the track. By 2009, the track had approximately 108 drivers that were officially signed up for weekly Summit Series racing points.
